Hello Everyone,
Sorry for the delay with the gyms - I was told by our administration today, that they will be ready to go next week, which gives us one week to have a couple more open gyms prior to the dead period/moratorium that begins on August 1st. Apparently the Mapleton Jr and Diamond fork Jr gyms are in the process of getting refinished at this time as well, so that has not been an option either. Let's plan on two final summer open gyms next week, on TUESDAY and THURSDAY, from 7-9pm, like we have done throughout May and June. Hopefully we can have a good turnout, since these will be the final open gyms until the end of September. On August 1st our mandatory 8 week moratorium begins. What that means is the coaches can not coach, and players are not allowed to used school facilities for playing basketball (They can still come to lift weights, etc. - just not play basketball). Players can still get together on their own to play however, if they so choose, at facilities other than the school. Obviously we would encourage them to continue playing in order that their skills do not become rusty.
Lastly, speaking of lifting weights, please remember that the weight room is open for our players, Monday-Thursday, from 9:30 - 11:00 am. We have only had 2 or 3 girls showing up on a regular basis to take advantage of this time. I would like to see that improve - if our players can increase their strength, that will certainly help us improve next season in numerous ways.
We hope to see everyone at our open gyms next Tuesday and Thursday!
Thanks,
-Coach

Open gym for Thursday 6/24 is CANCELLED!!
Hello Everyone,
Due to low player turnout this week, on account of many girls having youth conference, pioneer trek, girls camp, etc., we are going to cancel the open gym that was planned for this Thursday 6/24. We will try again next Tuesday, 6/29. I will be out of town in Iowa visiting family, but Coach Holden is planning on being here. Hopefully we will have a little better turnout next week when more girls are back in town. I do know that the soccer girls will be at the Dixie soccer camp, so we are not planning on those players next week. We will only have a couple more open gyms, as the gyms will likely be shut down at some point in July for refinishing, unless I hear differently. We then enter our state mandated moratorium/dead period beginning August 1st, which goes through the end of September. Please pass the word on to other players, in order that everyone knows about Thursday's cancellation.
Thanks,
-Coach

The Blog Is Back!!! 2010 Summer Update
Hello Eagles!
Just for those of you still checking the blog (Akeksa and Co. :) ) I thought I would update it! So here goes:
BYU Team Camp: is this week. We play Thursday evening @ 6:30 and 8:30 pm, Friday @ 11 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm, and Saturday starts with a shooting clinic @ 9am with a singe elimination tournament after that. Thursday please arrive by 5pm for registration.
OPEN GYMS: are still being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm. We would love to see every one there! We will hold these the remainder of June, and possibly at times during July, but July will be somewhat hit and miss due to the gym re-finishing. Stay tuned for more info for July.
WEIGHT LIFTING: The weight room is open for our female athletes only (to give them a chance to lift w/out the football players, etc. around) Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 - 11:00 am. I will be there on Mondays, other girls' sports coaches will be there the other days. We would like our players to lift at least 3 days per week if at all possible. Getting stronger would really help our team for next season!!
INDIVIDUAL CAMPS: most of the local colleges/universities will be starting their individual skills camps shortly. These are GREAT opportunities for our players to get additional instruction from college coaches and players. I would strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of these! BYU has multiple camps coming up, UVU has a high intensity camp and a post camp, and many of the other schools, such as USU, Utah, Utah St., etc., also offer opportunities. These are all coming up the last couple of weeks in June - Check each of the schools' athletic websites for "Camps", and that should give you instructions on how to register.
CONGATULATIONS: to our teams who played in the UVU jamboree last weekend. Our varsity teams ended up 8-2 overall, with our only losses coming from a club (all-star) team, and a very good team from Rigby, ID. Great Job Ladies!!

OPEN GYMS !!!!!!
Hello Eagles!!
Just a reminder that we have another open gym tonight (Thursday) from 6-8pm. The better our turnout, the more we can accomplish to prepare for next season! It is also a lot more fun for the players when there are many there. It makes the drills and scrimmages go much more smoothly.
We will continue to have open gyms each Thursday from 6-8 pm from now until the end of July.
Hope to see everyone there!

UPCOMING EVENTS!!!!!!
Hi Eagles!
Don't forget, our Maple Mountain fundamentals camp begins this Monday, June 1st at 9 am! Hope to see everyone there!!
Also, we will have an open gym on Thursday June 4th, from 6-8 pm, to go over some things for the UVU jamborees.
To all of those who signed up for the 1st UVU jamboree, there will most likely be a player meeting at around 1:00pm on Friday the 5th. We need everyone who signed up to be comitted to being there! We will then play two games that day and 3 more games throughout the day on Saturday.
****For those who signed up for the second jamboree on June 12th and 13th, again, it is very important that you are comitted to being there. We barely have enough girls to run two teams that day, but I am still planning on doing that in order to get everyone lots of playing time. We need everyone there for it to work, however!!! Otherwise, we will not have enough.
*** We will continue to have open gyms every Thursday from 6-8 pm throughout the months of June and July. The open gym on Thursday, June 11th will be very important for those playing in the second jamboree that weekend, in order to practice and prepare for our games.
See you next week!!!!
